About Woodlands Farm | |||
Woodlands Farm is run by Paul and Amy Callin (we are a husband and wife team) with the help our two young daughters, Chloe and Bella. We opened for business in July 2014 with the self-catering suite (The Middleton) after making some renovations to the property. A year or two later we received Planning Permission to convert stables to Guest Accommodation. We converted only part of the stable block to build the Guest Accommodation we offer today. There are some important members of the team who also reside at Woodlands Farm and you will meet them when you arrive during check-in! Many years ago, Woodlands Farm (previously Town End Farm) was a large Estate Farm (Sheep), but over the years it gradually changed direction and was used as a Horse Riding School. In Spring 2017, we converted some of the stables and an outbuilding to provide two double en-suite rooms (The Hurworth & The Bedale) and a larger Suite (The Ainsty) with a Kitchenette/Living Area. We have built the business from scratch and have learnt a lot of lessons (the good, the bad and the ugly) along the way! Paul grew up in an Award Winning B&B in an Old Lighthouse in North Wales and has returned to his roots in hospitality, after a career in Finance. Amy was born and bred in Yorkshire, brought up outside York in a small village and previously worked in Harrogate for Bettys Cookery School as a Chef/Tutor for nine years (part of the Bettys Cafe Tearoom business). Amy has also worked in London as a freelance Chef after training at Leiths School of Food and Wine in the City. After a successful application for a Tourism Grant from the North York Moors National Park Authority, in September 2019 we opened 'My Kitchen' Cookery Experiences, for guests (both residential and non-residential) from the Farmhouse kitchen. The Cookery Experiences will run during the shoulder season (Autumn-Spring) and will specialise in local cuisine using hands-on Cookery techniques. For more information check out the link under Food and Drink. We are a proud supporter of local businesses, from the sourcing of the oak furniture and beds in the rooms, to the provenance of the food served at breakfast. If you are interested in following our adventures behind the scenes and around Yorkshire follow our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Accounts. We look forward to welcoming you to Woodlands Farm soon. |
